To paraphrase my husband at New PacifiCon '96, not only has Devon Adair left the cryochamber, she's probably melted it with this role! Smmmmmmmmokin'!
I'm not going to go into too much of what everyone else has said, but I'll concentrate on a few major points. First of all, the music. To heck with the rest of the show, give me the soundtrack! They used my favorite musician, Loreena McKennitt, quite frequently. The rest of the soundtrack, which featured Clannad (among others), was awesome! I'm hoping that EZ Streets does for Celtic music what Miami Vice did for Phil Collins in the 1980's.
Now, onto Ms. Farentino's character. Or lack thereof. Debrah plays Teresa Connors, a hotshot lawyer who is representing (and sleeping with) the bad guy, Murtha. She's quite the sexual predator, unlike Devon "I haven't been with anyone since Uly's father" Adair. I hope there's more to her role than just doing an imitation of Sharon Stone in Basic Instinct. Debrah is too good of an actress to waste on just another bimbo role. However, I'm going to enjoy seeing where (and how far) she goes with this. It seems like she's the one that will tie the whole thing in knots, along with significant members of the male cast.
In short, EZ Streets is dark, gritty, and downright depressing - yet fascinating. It's not for the weak of heart or stomach. Maryland J. Koba gives it four and a half missing locker keys out of five. The half is extra credit for the soundtrack.
