What is Earth 2: Eden Advance?

In 1994, NBC Television launched, and subsequently cancelled, one of the most provocative science fiction stories ever aired. Earth 2: Eden Advance is a fan club for supporters of Earth 2, united in the effort to make sure that "The Journey Continues..." Founded in 1995, Earth 2: Eden Advance, a member of the National Association of Fan Clubs, serves as a meeting place for fans of the show and runs campaigns to encourage renewal of the series in any format.

WHAT WE'VE DONE SO FAR

In addition to our on-going letter writing campaigns, we placed a full-page ad in the July 10, 1995, Daily Edition of Variety. Variety is a trade paper that is widely read in the entertainment industry. This ad was paid for by donations from Earth 2 fans to thank the cast and crew and also get the attention of network executives.

Earth 2: Eden Advance members also sponsored the Skyad which flew over the 1995 Emmy Awards reading: "May the Journey Continue...Earth 2." Many of the Universal and Amblin execs saw this ad.

Earth 2: Eden Advance sponsored the first Earth 2 convention, New PacifiCon '96, to celebrate E2. This fan-run, non-profit convention was held in Albuquerque, New Mexico, on April 19-21, 1996, near the filming location of Earth 2. A second fan-run convention was held in Cincinnatti, OH in July of 1998.

WHAT WE ARE DOING NOW?

Plans are under way for the next convention, which will be held in Los Angeles in 2000. Stay tuned for more details as they become available.

Many members have hosted local get-togethers in various parts of the country and Canada including New England, Baltimore, Washington DC, Chicago, Nova Scotia, Los Angeles, Michigan and future "mini-cons" are scheduled.

EARTH 2: EDEN ADVANCE ONLINE

Earth 2: Eden Advance has a great online community. We maintain a mailing list/discussion group for online Earth 2 fans to communicate via email. Topics vary from discussion of events on the series, to cast members' current projects, to trivia questions and the infamous "what if's."

Earth2 -- This is the main mailing list devoted to discussion of the television series and ideas and information on saving Earth 2.

E2-FanFic -- This list is devoted solely to the posting and discussion of fan fiction.

You can subscribe to any of these lists by linking to Onelist and subscribing to "OriginalEarth2List" and "E2FF". There are additional E2 lists in existence, namely VA1587, which often mirrors the EA list, and Eden After Dark, which is geared more toward relationships.

NEWSGROUPS

The newsgroup devoted to Earth 2 is called alt.tv.earth2. This newsgroup is a good place to get information on the campaign to get Earth 2 back on the air and discuss the television series.
